If you have done any research on Learning and Retention, you know that the study of Adult Learning Principles has proven that experiential training offers the best chance of recall and application on-the-job. Occasionally however, a well intended-yet-misguided trainer will interpret that to mean "playing games." Well and good, as long as the learning connection is clear and there are true lessons and principles to be gained.

In addition to the crucial debriefing, a few "rules" should be followed.

THE RULES

Allow for creativity

Keep em' active

Relevant play

Make it fun

Facilitate Intentional Spontaneity

Tap in to all of the senses

Create a safe space

In your Organization, it is expected that your workforce provide:

  •     Full Engagement
  •     Hands on leadership
  •     Behaviors specific to your Organization's needs/objectives
  •     Capacity for handling challenging interpersonal situations

You should expect the same in your training!
